Just Checking in...
it's already May
This time last year I had tried skijoring, had my first painting in an art show, had gone to the Kentucky Derby, and started training for an IRONMAN. That was the year of 50 and this is the year of 51. Not sure what that means exactly other than I have started off this year a little differently in terms of my goals.
No IRONMAN to train and prep for. Some would say this is a good thing, especially my loved ones who sacrificed time together, and it is, but shifting gears into new goals and my hormonal body going back to my pre IRONMAN bod, which also isn’t a bad thing either, just different. An adjustment. I’m learning to lean into change.
I’m still sticking to my reading goal of a book a week and added two documentaries a month as well. I’ve consumed some pretty great content. Also some not so great. Some of the books and so far all of the docs I have listened to while painting because, well you know how I feel about multitasking. I did just get back from being out of town and was able to knock off two more paperback novels.
I realized I hadn’t posted about this goal since January, but here are the books thus far….

Alright, in terms of what I am currently reading, in paperback, a book titled Jennie about Winston Churchill’s mother. I’m also reading a book about beekeeping titled The Good Living Guide to Beekeeping. This is more of a taking notes science project book. On Audible listening to a couple of Shakespeare plays as well as The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People. And finally on the kindle Dark Justice. I know I’m all over the map in terms of genres but it has been a fun goal to keep up with.
I also mentioned I added documentary content to my wheelhouse in terms of what I am consuming. I’ll do a separate entry on this but so far 2xmonth has been easy to get in. I’ll try to be better about my bookclub posts ya’ll but sometimes life happens even in spite of our best laid plans.
So Hum,
